Ultimate New York Body Plan/ DietThe Ultimate New York Body Plan(UNYBP)comes in a book of the same name. It focuses on immediate results in the shortest possible time, through a two-week regimen, including a diet plan and an exercise routine, aimed at burning up to 2000 calories per day. Basically, the diet follows a strict ban on ABCDEF, which translates to Alcohol, Bread, Starch, Dairy, Extra sweets, Fruits and Fats. It recommends fish, chicken, turkey, vegetables, egg whites, and two protein shakes per day. The exercise is demonstrated in easy-to-follow directions accompanied by pictures. Followers of the UNYBP need accessories such as a stability ball, medicine ball, and dumb bells. The book also includes a variety of recipes to keep proceedings interesting. The program works in three phases:
Who created the diet? The Ultimate New York Diet is the brainchild of David Kirsch, founder of Madison Square Club in Manhattan, popular with celebrities for its fitness programs and nutritional advice. He also writes for Shape magazine and is frequently featured in the media. Medical StudiesAndrea Giancoli, MP.H., R.D., of the American Dietetic Association concludes that the Ultimate New York Diet may be overrated. She finds its lack of fruit and dairy detrimental to health. Instead, a vast amount of supplements make up for nutrient deficiency in the short term, but is definitely not recommended in the long run. Giancoli is, however, heartened by the program's emphasis on exercise. Cautionary NotesThe diet plan presumes that you are in a fit condition before beginning. It is not for beginners who would need to undergo a pre-plan program to qualify. It is perfect to meet short-term goals but is not something that expects or encourages an ongoing lifestyle of fitness and healthy eating. Expenses in the form of daily protein shakes, huge amounts of supplements, and exercise equipment may prove prohibitive for some people. Additional ResourcesThe Ultimate New York Body Plan Book and DVD Package is available for sale in the US, in Germany, and in the UK. |
